Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh raised the issue of late Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s death in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly here on Wednesday.
“Though it has been a month and a half since the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in an air crash, no state agency has come forward to say what caused the accident and who was responsible for his safety. Therefore, the general public in the state has now begun to feel that if the deputy chief minister of the state is not safe, nobody can be safe in this state,” Deshmukh said in the assembly.
“The state Home Department or the Secretary of the State Protocol Department has not officially said anything about the death of Ajit Pawar as yet. There are definitely regulations regarding the security of the state Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and ministers. However, it is a very serious matter that neither the security agencies of the state nor the departments under which the Baramati Airport is operated, like the MADC, have come forward to say anything about this matter. The Maharashtra government should make a detailed statement about this matter,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar-led NCP’s Maharashtra state unit president and MLA Shashikant Shinde said, “Ajit Pawar’s air crash case is not being discussed in the House. I had moved an adjournment motion but it was not allowed. Only a very short discussion was allowed. It has been 5 days since a discussion about this matter was accepted, but no discussion has been allowed in the House yet. Like the Assembly and Legislative Council, nobody is being allowed to speak about the matter in the Lok Sabha either. We want to know what really happened to Ajit Pawar”.
