IEDs, Chinese grenades, pistol recovered from terrorist hideout in Poonch forest

In a joint operation, the White Knight Corps of the Indian Army on Wednesday recovered a 4.5 kg improvised explosive device (IED), Chinese grenades and a cache of arms and ammunition from a terrorist hideout in the Gani forest area of Poonch district.

The White Knight Corps said that based on synergised intelligence inputs from own sources and the J&K Police, a joint operation was launched by the troops and the Special Operations Group (SOG) in the Gani forest area of Poonch district.

Displaying precision and coordination, the detailed search led to the recovery of a terrorist cache concealed beneath a natural cave.

“One large IED (4.5 kg), one small IED (800 gm), two Chinese grenades, one 9 mm pistol, two 9 mm rounds and twenty-two 7.62 mm rounds were recovered from the site.

The IEDs and grenades were destroyed by the Bomb Disposal Team, ensuring the safety of civilians and troops, the White Knight Corps added.
