Demanding immediate and unconditional release of all prisoners, the Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday blamed the ruling PDP for unnecessarily prolonging their detention period.

The demand for release of Hurriyat activists came soon after the stone pelters were released.

Accusing PDP for playing “deceitful politics”, a Huriyat spokesman in a statement said that “hypocrisy and treachery” is the trait of PDP.

Lashing at PDP, Hurriyat said that this party is the creation of agencies and its rhetoric for battle of ideas stand exposed and added that they should realise this fact that pellets, bullets and Public Safety Act (PSA) now stand sign and symbolic for their “treacherous politics”.

Since the inception of PDP, they are following dictates from Nagpur (RSS) and there seems no let-up in pellets and bullets, said Hurriyat and added that though pellet gun and chemical weapons are specifically used against wild animals, however PDP in order to remain in power corridors and appease their masters, used these weapons against innocent and unarmed civilians.

Their rhetoric for battle of ideas, is nothing but “hoax”, said Hurriyat and instead caged people and strangulated their genuine voices.

Slapping PSA against its opponents and youth is its favourite game, said Hurriyat and added that PDP puppets of Nagpur have crossed all limits and turned the valley into a “graveyard”.

Hurriyat expressed its deep concern over the “deteriorating condition of prisoners”, saying they are being subjected to political vendetta and no proper medical treatment is provided to ailing detainees.

“During the violent incidents in 2016, state authorities arrested thousands while PSA was slapped against six hundred,” the statement claimed.  “More than 300 activists are still languishing in different jails and police lockups,” said Huriyat.

The statement said that people bailed out by the courts are not being released. “On one or the other pretext their detention period is prolonged and those bailed out by judiciary are rearrested by police and detained again on “fictitious” charges and PSA slapped on them.
