Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hit out at Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his claim that the BJP would stay in power for the next 40 years. Questioning Shah’s certainty, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said, “How does he know? Through vote chori—that’s why they are so confident.”
Addressing during the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi said, “On my way here, a group of 6-year-olds looked at me and said ‘Narendra Modi Vote chor’. Children as young as 6 years have understood that votes are being stolen in India… A few days ago, Amit Shah said that the BJP will remain in power for the next 40 years… No one knows what would happen in politics, but Amit Shah knows the future for the next 40 years. How? Vote Chori…”

Rahul alleged that the practice of vote chori originated in Gujarat before 2014 and was expanded nationwide once the BJP came to power. According to him, the so-called “Gujarat Model” is not about economic progress but about electoral manipulation.
The LoP claimed that elections in Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Maharashtra were rigged, but the Congress initially remained silent due to lack of evidence. However, he asserted that Maharashtra provided clear proof, as the BJP “overplayed its hand.”
He accused the Election Commission of adding nearly one crore votes in Maharashtra after the Lok Sabha polls, all of which went to the BJP. He further vowed to present evidence showing how elections in Haryana, Maharashtra, and even at the national level were stolen.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, who joined the yatra, was all praise for Rahul Gandhi and said that the BJP is attacking the opposition because the latter had shown how the BJP has turned elections into a joke.
Stalin said, “… I have come from Tamil Nadu to support my brothers. Rahul Gandhi has exposed the ‘vote chori’ by the Election Commission. CEC Gyanesh Kumar says that Rahul Gandhi should give an affidavit or apologise. Will Rahul Gandhi ever get scared by all this?… Today, the BJP is attacking them because it has shown how the BJP has turned elections into a joke…”
