The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday responded to Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s sarcastic tweet, in which he had told BJP social media “troll army’ to not be worked up about his absence from India.

BJP in an equally sarcastic tweet said, “Women of Karnataka also await Cabinet formation so that the state govt can start serving them. Can you ensure Karnataka gets a working govt before you leave?”.

“Everyone on social media hopes that you will keep us entertained from there too :-)”, added BJP mockingly with a smiley emoticon.

The party in its tweet also wished well for Sonia Gandhi’s health.

Rahul Gandhi, who is accompanying his mother Sonia Gandhi on her  medical check-up trip abroad, took to Twitter on Sunday to share his travel plan before heading out, and also left a message for “BJP social media troll army”.

In his tweet, Gandhi said he would be away from India for a few days. Without disclosing the destination, the Congress leader said he would be accompanying his mother for her “annual medical check-up”.

He added: “To my friends in the BJP social media troll army: don’t get too worked up…I’ll be back soon!”

Rahul Gandhi has faced a lot of criticism and been trolled in the past for staying away from India at crucial times.

According to a PTI report, Rahul will return within a week, but Sonia is expected to stay back for a longer period. Sonia had undergone a surgery in the US in 2011.

On Sunday, BJP had mocked Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his report card on the Modi government’s performance by citing the Congress’ electoral defeats under his leadership and calling him a “failed dynast”.

BJP had uploaded a video with a tweet, which highlighted electoral defeats of the Congress since Rahul Gandhi was elevated as party vice president in 2013 followed by his appointment as the party president last year.
