On the occasion of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said history is made by those who have a spirit of sacrifice and selflessness.
At the Kirtan Samagam program held on Friday in memory of the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who made the supreme sacrifice for the protection of Dharma, the chief minister said here on Friday that the tradition of sacrificing everything for one’s country and religion, established by the Sikh Gurus, is the path to our progress.
A Shabad recitation and Kirtan Samagam program was organized at the chief minister’s residence, 5 Kalidas Marg, on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas. Chief Minister Adityanath began the program by bowing his head in reverence to the Guru Granth Sahib. He then listened to the Shabad Kirtan and the story of the immortal sacrifice of the Sahibzadas. He also honored the children who performed the Kirtan by presenting them with turbans and awards. He also released a booklet titled ‘Chhote Sahibzade’.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said celebrating the martyrdom day of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s sons, Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh, as Veer Bal Diwas is an opportunity to pay homage to their immortal sacrifice for their religion and country. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for acknowledging the sentiments of the Sikh community across the country and giving this day national recognition. He said that the history of the Sikh Gurus is a history of devotion and strength in India. Guru Nanak Dev Ji ignited the flame of Sikhism and traveled to every corner of the country to spread its message. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji made it exemplary through their sacrifice and selflessness.
At the Shabad Kirtan Samagam, Yogi paid homage to the tradition of the Sikh Gurus, their selfless sacrifice.He said this year marks the 350th anniversary of the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, and he considered it his good fortune to have had the opportunity to participate in his martyrdom day programs on several occasions. It was a coincidence that while they were organizing a program at the chief minister’s residence on the occasion of the 550th Prakash Parv (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, they also had the privilege of announcing that December 26th would be observed as Veer Bal Diwas (Valiant Children’s Day).
The chief minister said today, Veer Bal Diwas programs are being held in every school, college, and office across the country, and the stories of the Sahibzadas (sons of Guru Gobind Singh) have been included in the curriculum so that the new generation could be inspired by their sacrifice. History is made only by those who have a spirit of sacrifice and selflessness. The Langar tradition of Sikhism is an example of social harmony, where no one’s caste or religion is questioned. Guru Gobind Singh Ji worked to unite society.
The Chief Minister paid homage to the memories of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, Mata Gujri Devi, Baba Ajit Singh, Baba Jujhar Singh, Baba Zorawar Singh, and Baba Fateh Singh, and said that Veer Bal Diwas is a day of inspiration for every Indian youth.
He assured all possible cooperation from the double-engine government for the 350th martyrdom anniversary celebrations of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The program concluded with the recitation of Anand Sahib and Ardas (prayer). Afterward, he also participated in the Langar (community meal) with Ministers Swatantra Dev Singh, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, and Aseem Arun.
