Narendra Thakur, the All India Joint Publicity Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said there should be no discrimination of any kind within the Hindu society.

He said that the RSS does not believe in discrimination, but caste-based discrimination, untouchability, and divisions based on language and region still exist in society. Society can only be united by eliminating these differences.

Addressing a Hindu conference held at the Trimbakeshwar Mahadev Temple premises here on Wednesday, Narendra Thakur said, “Our religious scriptures do not mention untouchability based on caste. Untouchability is an evil practice that arose during the period of slavery. Therefore, no caste is recognized within the RSS. An RSS volunteer does not believe in caste.”

Referring to the second Sarsanghchalak of the RSS, Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar (Guruji), he said he tried to bring all the saints onto a single platform and propagated the slogan “Hindavah Sodara Sarve”, which means that all Hindus are brothers and sisters.

He said a Hindu cannot be considered inferior; all are equal. The RSS is continuously striving to eliminate the evils that have crept into society. If the society is to be united, we must rise above caste-based discrimination, untouchability, and linguistic and regional differences and move forward together.

Narendra Thakur said attempts were made to dismantle the RSS in 1948 and 1975. During the Emergency, the largest number of RSS members went to jail for the protection of democracy. Today, society stands in support of the RSS.

He informed that the RSS is working in more than one lakh locations and is running 130,000 service projects. More than 32 All India organizations associated with the RSS are active in every sphere of social life. But society is vast, so the RSS alone cannot solve all the problems. The work of the RSS is to awaken society and build character.

At the Hindu conference, Kaushik Chaitanya said that a society that deviates from its duties becomes shackled by the chains of subjugation. This is why the Shakas, Huns, Mughals, and British ruled.

On this occasion, departmental organizer Anil, Lucknow South area secretary Dhirendra, assistant area secretary Siddharth, area organizer Daulat, and area co-publicity chief Ramakant were prominently present.
