A delegation led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur visited Dalco Foods Facility at Oosterhout in Netherlands on Friday and understood the functioning of the unit to explore the possibilities in fruit processing especially apple in Himachal Pradesh.

The delegation also got firsthand knowledge regarding protein-based food products from vegetarian food.

The Dalco Food Facility specialises in plant-based protein fruits which are in demand world over.

Himachal Pradesh CM while evincing keen interest in the products, said that HP has variety of fruits due to its varied climatic conditions thus there was a huge potential in the fruit processing sector in the state. He said that the fruits produced in the state were of best quality and well suited for processing.

Jai Ram said that possibilities regarding setting up of similar facilities in Himachal Pradesh would be explored and all possible help would be provided to interested entrepreneurs willing to invest in the state in this sector.

The delegation also made a shop floor visit of the Dalco Foods and knew the hygienic techniques being adopted by the unit in preparation of the products.

Industries Minister Bikram Singh, Ambassador of India, Venu Rajamony to Netherlands, Additional Chief Secretary cum Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shrikant Baldi, Additional Chief Secretary Industries Manoj Kumar, Director Industries Hans Raj Sharma, Special Secretary Abid Husain Sadiq  and other senior officers  accompanied the CM to Dalco Foods Facility.
