Helicopter services for the hilly and snowbound districts of the Jammu Division, commencing from 2 November, were reviewed on Friday by the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, Ramesh Kumar.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, and Rajouri; the Director of Tourism; representatives from Civil Aviation, J&K, and the Airport Authority of India (AAI), Jammu.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioners to designate Nodal officers for booking tickets from their districts and put in place all requisite arrangements, including ticket counters, cleanliness, and proper security at helipads.
The to-and-fro heli services will be available for Jammu to Poonch, Jammu to Mendhar, Jammu to Rajouri, Jammu to Doda, Jammu to Kishtwar, and intra-Kishtwar routes.
He directed the Tourism department to publish district-wise and route-wise rates for the heli services, while deputy commissioners were also asked for wide publicity of the heli services available for people for traveling to hilly and snowbound districts, especially during winters.
The representative of AAI, Jammu, was also asked to make proper arrangements for the helicopters and ticket counters at the Jammu Airport.
