Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal, while speaking in Parliament on Friday, alleged collusion of some Congress MPs from Punjab with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to block a CBI probe into the death of Warehousing officer Dr Gagandeep S Randhawa to protect then transport minister Laljit Bhullar.
In a statement, the Bathinda MP said the issue was apparently not to the liking of a Punjab Congress MP, who she alleged “always sang to the tunes” of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
“The MP protested vociferously, but I reiterated my appeal to Home Minister Amit Shah to order a CBI probe into the case. I asserted that a large number of MPs from Punjab had demanded the same in writing following a statement by the Home Minister, and their wishes should be honoured,” she said.
Badal also brought it to the attention of the Home Minister that Dr. Gagandeep Randhawa’s alleged tormentor, Laljit Bhullar, had committed irregularities while availing of a Food Corporation of India (FCI)-funded scheme involving the construction of food grain storage facilities. “This in itself is reason enough to order a CBI probe into the case, as a central food agency has allegedly been defrauded by Laljit Bhullar,” she added.
