Haridwar Kumbha 2027 will be held from January 14 to April 20 incorporating 10 holy baths. This was decided at the All India Akhara Parishad (AIAP) meeting with chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday in Haridwar.
In the meeting with the representative seers of all 13 Akharas chief ministers asked for their suggestions and guidance for the successful organisation of the Kumbh 2027. Dhami stated that traditions of the AIAP, its requirements and facilities for the seers will be top priority in all decisions related to the Kumbh. He said that successful organisation of massive religious events like Kumbh is unimaginable without support, suggestions and blessings of the seers. Dhami stated that his government wanted to make preparations for Kumbh 2027 more comprehensive, systematic and in line with expectations of the seers’ community.
In the meeting held first time on the Bank of Ganga AIAP seers finalised the tenure and important dates for 2027 Haridwar Kumbh including days for 10 Shahi Snans (holy baths). Later the holy bath dates were announced by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Announcing the dates for 2027 Kumbh Dhami said the festival will take off with the first holy bath on January 14, 2027 on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. Second holy bath will be on February 06, 2027 on Mauni Amavasya, Third Shahi on February 11, 2027 Vasant Panchami day, fourth on February 20, 2027 Magh Purnima and fifth holy bath day will be March 06, 2027 Mahashivratri. March 08, 2027 Phalgun Amavasya will be the day for sixth Shahi Snan, April 07, 2027 Nav Samvatsar seventh holy bath and eighth holy bath will be held on April 14, 2027 on Mesh Sankranti. April 15, 2027 coinciding with Ram Navami will be the ninth holy bath day and April 20, 2027 Chaitra Purnima will be the last Shahi Snan day with the conclusion of the Haridwar Kumbh 2027.
Dhami informed that stake holding government departments including the Police, National Disaster Response Force(NDRF), Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), health and fire departments will ensure all measures to ensure adequate security during theKumbh. Chief minister also stated that preparations for crowd control, traffic management and readiness for other emergencies have already begun. He added that the Uttarakhand government will also seek cooperation of the officers who successfully organised Kumbh Melas in the past.”
