In a shocking incident in Haryana’s Hansi, a gym owner was shot dead early Thursday morning while he was conducting warm-up sessions for trainees, with a woman also sustaining injuries during the firing, police said.

According to officials, the incident took place around 5:25 a.m. when two bike-borne assailants arrived at the gym location. CCTV footage shows the attackers reaching the spot on a motorcycle, with the pillion rider wearing a white cap and face covered. Within seconds of getting down, he opened indiscriminate fire at close range, targeting the gym owner’s head and upper body. The entire firing sequence lasted around five seconds, during which approximately 10 rounds were fired, officials added.

The victim has been identified as Kapil Redhu (25), a gym operator originally from Dalmwala village in Jind district, who had been running a gym in Hansi for the past three years. He had recently shifted his gym operations near Krantikari Chowk. Police said Kapil was the only son of his parents.

During the firing, a woman identified as Shikha, who was present for warm-up exercises, was injured after being hit by a bullet fragment. She was rushed to a private hospital in Hisar and is currently undergoing treatment.

Kapil had reportedly entered into an inter-caste love marriage about a year ago, though his wife was currently staying with her family, police and local sources said.

Nearly five hours after the incident, a social media post allegedly in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang surfaced, claiming responsibility for the killing. The post named individuals, including Harry Boxer, R.D. Dhariwal, Harman Sandhu, and Vikram Kriedan, while alleging that Kapil was involved in earlier firing incidents in Shekhpura and Dhani Puriya villages. The post also warned of further violence against those allegedly linked to the case.

In a separate development, an audio clip circulating on social media purportedly linked to the same group also claimed responsibility for a firing incident at a gym associated with singer-actor Guru Randhawa in Delhi, issuing further threats.

Police, however, said they are verifying the authenticity of these claims. “The manner of execution suggests that the attackers are professional criminals. Ten empty cartridges have been recovered from the spot. The victim’s mother has stated that there was no dispute related to his marriage,” said DSP Vinod Shankar.

Officials added that multiple angles are being investigated and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the assailants. Security has been tightened in the area following the incident.
