A special court in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior has declared BJP MP Pritam Lodhi’s son, Dinesh Lodhi, as an absconder in connection with a case registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The order was issued by the Special Court for SC/ST Act cases after Dinesh repeatedly failed to appear before it despite the issuance of warrants, IANS reported.

Further, the court has ordered a permanent arrest warrant against him and asked the police to arrest him and produce him.

As per reports, the case was registered at the Purani Chhawani police station in Gwalior, while the arrest warrant was earlier issued against Dinesh in December 2023. However, the police told the court that it could not be executed, since the accused remained at large.

The court later declared him absconding under the relevant provisions of the law after taking into consideration the police report and his continued absence.

Police officials said the proclamation proceedings were completed before the court passed the order.

They have now been ordered to execute the permanent arrest warrant and ensure his appearance before the court.

In recent months, Dinesh Lodhi’s name even came out in other criminal cases. In April, Shivpuri Police registered a case against him after his Thar SUV allegedly hit five people near Karera.

The incident sparked a major political controversy in the region after multiple videos related to the accident surfaced on social media.

Prior to this, he was also taken into custody in connection with an attempt-to-murder case registered in Gwalior. In that case, he was accused of allegedly trying to run over a man with his SUV.

As of now, Pritam Lodhi, who represents the Pichhore Assembly constituency in Shivpuri district, has not issued any statement.
