A Delhi Police constable has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend, attempting to force his way into her residence, and creating a disturbance in a residential society in Gurugram, police said on Thursday, June 11.

The incident took place in Jalvayu Vihar, a residential society in Sector 56, where CCTV cameras installed in the area reportedly captured the entire sequence of events. Videos circulating on social media allegedly show the accused physically assaulting the woman in public.

According to police, the accused has been identified as Ronit Yadav, a resident of Indirapuram in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He is currently posted as a constable with the Delhi Police and was reportedly serving at a Metro station at the time of the incident. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody after a court rejected his plea seeking protection from arrest.

Investigators said the complainant is a BBA student at a reputed college in Delhi. She had earlier been acquainted with the accused, but later ended the relationship due to his alleged behaviour.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that Ronit arrived at her residence in an inebriated condition between 5 am and 6 am in a black Mahindra Thar. When her mother refused to open the door, he allegedly attempted to enter the house forcibly. The complaint further states that he verbally abused family members and allegedly issued threats to the woman’s mother and her 15-year-old sister.

The woman said she was attending a family function when her mother informed her about the situation and asked her to return home. Upon reaching the society, she was allegedly stopped by the accused, who dragged her by the hair and assaulted her in full public view. She alleged that he repeatedly slapped and pushed her during the confrontation.

The complainant further claimed that the accused had similarly assaulted her in September 2025. Although she had lodged a complaint at the time, she later withdrew it after allegedly being threatened with the circulation of private videos.

Police said that after the latest incident, the accused attempted to flee the society. When security personnel closed the gate, he allegedly rammed his Thar vehicle into the iron gate in an effort to escape.

The victim’s family subsequently alerted police through the emergency helpline. Based on the complaint, Sector 56 police registered a case under multiple sections and arrested the accused. Authorities said the matter is under investigation and the accused is currently lodged in Bhondsi Jail after his bail plea was rejected by the court.
