In a major development in the sensational firing incident at actress Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly on September 12, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police’s CI Unit on Wednesday gunned down the assailants after a fierce encounter.

ADG ( law and order) Amitabh Yash has confirmed to ‘ The Statesman’ about the death of both the criminals.

Around 3:45 am on September 12, unidentified gunmen opened indiscriminate firing at the actress’s residence, creating panic in the area. A case was subsequently registered at Kotwali Police Station in Bareilly.

Taking a serious note of the incident, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed a swift investigation and immediate action in the case. Acting on the chief minister’s directives and following the state’s strict zero-tolerance policy towards crime, investigative agencies carried out in-depth intelligence gathering. CCTV footage from all entry and exit routes, crime records from neighbouring states, and advanced technical surveillance were analysed.

This led to the identification of the two shooters involved in the attack: Ravindra, son of Kallu, resident of Kahni, Rohtak, and Arun, son of Rajendra, resident of Indian Colony, Gohana Road, Sonipat.

On Wednesday morning, a joint team of UP STF (Noida Unit) and Delhi Police’s CI Unit intercepted the suspects in Tronica City, Ghaziabad, resulting in a gunfight. ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash confirmed that both the injured men were active members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar gang, a notorious criminal syndicate with multiple cases against its members. Ravindra has reportedly been involved in several prior criminal incidents. The police recovered sophisticated weapons from the site, including a Glock and a Zigana pistol, along with a large quantity of ammunition.
