In yet another bizarre statement from the BJP camp, its lawmaker from Madhya Pradesh’s Guna segment Pannalal Shakya on Wednesday said that a woman should remain infertile than producing non-sanskari children.

At a public rally in Guna, which he represents in the state assembly, the BJP legislator attacked Congress and said that “Congress came up with the slogan garibi hatao but instead wiped out the poor. There are women who give birth to such leaders. Women should rather remain infertile than produce kids who are not sanskari and who deform society.”

This is not for the first time that Shakya has come up with such a bizarre statement. He is the one who had once lashed out at cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma as he questioned their “patriotism” following their decision of getting married on a foreign land.

Earlier this year, Shakya had said that the atrocities on women will stop once they stop making boyfriends.

Speaking at the Guna Government College on March 25, he advised girls not to make boyfriends, saying: “They shouldn’t make boyfriends; atrocities against them will stop.”

In the recent past, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb also found courted controversies several times for his statements.

After being elected as the Tripura CM, Deb had said mechanical engineers should not pursue civil services and later went on to clarify that only civil engineers should join civil services.

Talking about the modern age internet, Deb again rang the bell of controversy by saying that, “Internet and satellite communication had existed in the days of Mahabharata. How could Sanjaya (the charioteer of King Dhritarashtra) give a detailed account and description to the blind king about the battle of Kurukshetra? It means internet was there, the satellites and that technology was there in this country at that time”.

He also asked the graduates to avoid chasing jobs and rear cows to get Rs 10 lakh in 10 years in their bank accounts.
