Governor Satya Pal Malik is learnt to have recommended the Centre to impose President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir after expiry of six-months of Governor’s rule on 19 December.

It is learnt that the governor has dispatched a communication to the Union Home Ministry which will be taken up by the Union cabinet before the expiry of the governor’s rule on 19 December.

Kovind will issue a proclamation declaring that the powers of the Legislature of the State shall be exercisable by the Parliament.

The state plunged into a political crisis on 19 June this year after the BJP withdrew support to chief minister

Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government.

The then Governor NN Vohra placed the Assembly under suspended animation after imposing Governor’s rule on 20 June.
