Governor-designate Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh vows support for CM’s progressive agenda upon arrival in Haryana


Haryana Governor-designate Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh, accompanied by his wife Mitra Ghosh, arrived at the Haryana Raj Bhawan on Saturday. He was warmly received by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and members of his Cabinet.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Ghosh said that he had come from West Bengal to support and encourage the progressive initiatives of the Chief Minister. He added that his discussions with the Chief Minister would focus on the welfare of the poor and underprivileged sections of society in Haryana.

He further stated that he considers it an important responsibility to give a patient hearing to the opposition, to understand their views and perspectives. “I will ensure that their opinions are respectfully conveyed to the Chief Minister,” he said.

Earlier, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, along with his Cabinet colleagues, welcomed the Governor-designate at the Raj Bhawan.

Speaker of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha Harvinder Kalyan; Development and Panchayats Minister  Krishan Lal Panwar; Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda; Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goyal; Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana; Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa; Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam; Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Rajesh Nagar; Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi; and other senior officials of the state government were also present on the occasion.

It may be recalled that the Union Government recently appointed Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh as the Governor of Haryana, following the completion of the tenure of Bandaru Dattatraya.
