A rap song created by a group of young men from Talwara in Punjab has gone viral on social media after humorously urging Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to extend financial assistance schemes to men as well. The video, released on the Instagram page “talwara_cypher”, has attracted widespread attention online and sparked extensive discussion among social media users.

The song draws inspiration from welfare measures and financial assistance promised for women, including the proposed monthly aid of Rs 1,500 and free bus travel facilities. Through a satirical and light-hearted presentation, the young performers argue that men should also receive some form of economic support from the government. They suggest that if women are entitled to financial assistance, men should at least be granted a monthly allowance of Rs 500.

In the rap, the performers directly address the Chief Minister and sing, “CM Mann nu suneha mera pahuncha dio, bandeyan de khate joge 500 hi pwa dio, aiven na sare paise bibiyan te uda dio,” loosely appealing for a monthly transfer of Rs 500 to men instead of directing all welfare benefits exclusively towards women.

The youth further use humour to convey their message, saying they have not arrived from another planet and therefore should not be treated differently. In another satirical segment, they joke that if government benefits continue to focus only on women, men may eventually face difficulties at home. In a playful remark, they suggest that women in their households could stop cooking meals for them.

The video has resonated with social media audiences, with users sharing it widely and posting humorous reactions in the comments section. The rap’s blend of comedy and social commentary has helped it gain significant traction online, turning it into a talking point among internet users across Punjab.

While the song is presented in a humorous tone, it has sparked conversations on social media about welfare policies and young people’s expectations regarding the distribution of government benefits. No official response from the Punjab government had been reported at the time of filing this report.
