Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday called on the people, particularly the youths, to be aware of happenings taking place in the country and the world, and to learn to react appropriately on concerning affairs.
Speaking at the Peace Meeting (Shanti Sabha) organised by the Bharat Seva Sansthan at the Gandhi Circle here to mark the conclusion of the the historic Dandi March by Mahatma Gandhi on this day 96 years ago, Gehlot said, “I want to call on the younger generation, and public too, for learning to react on what the wrong or right happening in the country. It is strange that people have been keeping silent on the happenings with approach- whatsoever happens, let it happen”.
This psyche of indifferent aloofness is not good, -Sahi Ko Sahi or Galat Ko Galat Kahna Sikho -, learn to call a spade a spade”, the 3 timer ex-CM and multi term former MP has counseled.
If you don’t break on events/incidences the nation would suffer, it would harm national interests. So, all should evolve themselves in terms of ideology, stay vigilant, alert and concerned on current affairs and prepared for facing imminent challenges.
Elaborating on worrisome current world affairs, he said wars – conflicts involving nations like Russia, Ukraine, the US-Israel, Iran and Venezuela causing worries world over.
The Venezuelan President and his wife were abducted by the US President, this was an unimaginable and condemnable happening, however, the world observed a deafening silence, no condemnation against it. This silence was not good, it is a matter of concern, he said.
Today, even our foreign policy also seems directionless. The way the US President made comments against PM ModiJi, makes us ashamed. Though we belong to different political parties, however, ModiJi isthe Prime Minister of our country, Trump’s comment against our PM hurt us, he said.
The US President utters “ModiJi is engaged in appeasing me ; I can destroy Modi’s political career, the premier of another nation dared to insult (ridicule) our PM in such a way, and we keep silent, what is this ?”, Gehlot wondered.
“Even at the domestic front democracy is facing threat, judiciary is working under pressure, government agencies are being misused and even the Election Commission of India (ECI) is under pressure”, the senior Congress leader quipped.
In this worrisome global scenario, he pinned the hope for restoring world peace through Gandhian principles and philosophy.
The path that the father of nation showed almost a century ago is still relevant today, Gehlot asserted.
