Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat hit back at former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for the latter’s remarks about banning the BJP, saying, “One can only dream of imposing a ban on the BJP; it is now the largest party in the world”.

While talking to the media here Monday, the Union Minister was a bit harsh about the 3 timer ex-CM’s comment in which the latter said that the ruling BJP was indulged in provocating Hindutva forces and effecting religion based polarisation ; Had leader like Indira Gandhi been in power today she(or he) would have banned this (BJP) party”.

Shekhawat said that by making such a comment, Gehlot highlighted his party’s track record, mindset and psyche, as well as that of the referred leadership.

The senior BJP leader recalled that only Ms Indira Gandhi had imposed the Emergency and become oppressive toward opposition parties and their leaders. Even the erstwhile Congress-led government in 1992 attempted to ban the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

So far as the idea of ban on BJP is concern, this can be thought only in dreams, today BJP is the largest political party in the world, Shekhawat asserted.
