On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a special gift for the women of the state from tomorrow.
The state Urban Transport Directorate, under the Urban Development Department, will provide free travel on city buses for women and one accompanying passenger. This facility will be available from 6:00 AM on August 8, 2025 to 12:00 AM on August 10, 2025.
The initiative aims to make the festival of Raksha Bandhan more joyous and inclusive. In previous years, this free travel facility was limited to women on the day of Raksha Bandhan. However, this year, it has been extended to three days and includes one accompanying passenger, making it more convenient for families traveling to celebrate the festival with their loved ones.
Under this scheme, the Urban Transport Directorate has instructed all city bus operators to ensure seamless and safe travel during this period. The facility will be available on city buses operating across various cities in the state, making it easier for women to reach their destinations.
