Four people were killed and three others were critically injured when an SUV rammed into a stationary truck in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district at around 5 am on Saturday.
Four occupants of the SUV died on the spot, while three others sustained serious injuries. All of them were travelling from Delhi to Nainital.
According to the police, the truck was parked on the roadside when the SUV, reportedly travelling at around 100 kmph, crashed into it.
The impact was so severe that the front portion of the SUV was completely crushed and its roof was ripped off. The occupants were trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
A video of the accident has surfaced in which a blood-soaked man, trapped among the victims, is seen pleading for help, saying, “Brother, please save me.”
Police rescued the injured and recovered the bodies after considerable effort. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Police said the seven occupants of the SUV were believed to be residents of the Delhi-NCR region and were aged between 30 and 35 years. They had left Delhi for Uttarakhand to visit Jim Corbett National Park and Nainital.
