Four killed as Ambulance overturns in UP’s Sitapur

A private ambulance lost control and overturned, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and leaving a young girl seriously injured.

The accident occurred on Friday morning in the Atariya area, near Hind Hospital on the National Highway.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Umakant Shukla, the ambulance was en route from Dehradun to Varanasi, carrying a patient. The deceased have been identified as ambulance driver Gurmeet (40), the patient Vishal Pandey (48), and one unidentified male passenger. Additionally, a 40-year-old woman standing by the roadside was struck and killed on the spot.

Eyewitnesses reported that the ambulance was speeding when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to flip over. A child who was with the woman at the time of the accident sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Hind Hospital.

Police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
