The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has a new chairman.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has appointed former Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar as the chairman of the commission.
The commission is responsible for the recruitment of teachers at the secondary and higher education levels in the state.
Kumar, a 1990 batch IPS officer, retired in May this year. After his retirement, the Yogi government has entrusted him with this important responsibility. He served as the acting DGP of Uttar Pradesh for about a year and a half and was considered one of the Chief Minister’s most trusted officers.
Kumar is originally from the Siwan district in Bihar. During his long administrative career, he held important positions such as ADG Meerut Zone, DG Law and Order, and DG Economic Offences Wing (EOW).
Prashant Kumar’s wife, Dimple Verma, is a former IAS officer and currently serves as a member of the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA).
