Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has begun his three-day visit to the United States. He reached Washington late Tuesday and was received by India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, who said the visit provides an opportunity to engage with American counterparts on a wide-ranging bilateral agenda as well as regional and global developments.
Misri’s US visit is aimed at reviewing the full spectrum of India-US relations and advancing cooperation across key sectors, including trade, defence, and technology.

Focus on key pillars of partnership
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the April 8-10 visit will include discussions with senior officials of the US administration covering trade, defence, and science and technology, along with issues of mutual interest on the global stage.
The Ministry said the visit is intended to “review the full spectrum of India-US bilateral relations and advance ongoing cooperation across key areas,” underscoring the breadth of the strategic partnership between New Delhi and Washington.
Part of ongoing high-level engagements
Officials noted that the visit follows External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar’s visit to the US in February and reflects the continued pace of high-level exchanges between the two countries.
During his earlier visit, Jaishankar had highlighted the “strong momentum” in bilateral engagement, pointing to expanding cooperation across multiple domains.
Diplomatic engagements in Washington
Meanwhile, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, currently in the United States, has held meetings with Kwatra and other senior officials, including Vice President JD Vance and FBI Director Kash Patel.
These interactions have reinforced the importance both sides attach to strengthening strategic ties and enhancing coordination on regional and global challenges.
