Folk singer Maithili Thakur becomes the youngest candidate in Bihar polls

Famous folk singer Maithili Thakur will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections as a BJP candidate from Alinagar. She joined the BJP on Tuesday.

Born on July 25, 2000, Maithili Thakur has become the youngest candidate in this election. Her name appears on top of the BJP’s second list of 12 candidates released on Wednesday for the assembly elections. Another prominent name on the list is former IPS officer Anand Mishra, who left Jan Suraaj party to join the BJP a month ago.

Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) also announced its first list of 14 candidates candidates for the elections. The party has been allotted 29 seats as part of the NDA seat-sharing agreement. Key names in the list include Hulas Pandey, Raju Tiwari, and Seemant Mrinal.

Raju Tiwari, state president of the LJP (Ram Vilas) and former MLA from Govindganj, has been given a ticket from the same constituency. Hulas Pandey, former MLA and a strongman, will contest from Brahmpur. Rajeev Ranjan Singh has been nominated from Dehri. Seemant Mrinal, state president of the party’s student wing and Chirag Paswan’s nephew, will contest from Garkha (reserved) in the Saran district.

Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), announced the names of six candidates on Tuesday. His daughter-in-law, Deepa Kumari, has been given a ticket from Imamganj.

Other candidates include Anil Kumar from Tekari, Jyoti Devi from Barahat (SC reserved), Rohmit Kumar from Atri, Prafull Kumar Manjhi from Sikandra (SC) and Lalan Ram from Kutumba (SC).
