Five persons died and an equal number were seriously injured when a Scorpio hit a motorcycle and then overturned, crashing into an under-construction house in the Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday.
According to the police, the mishap occurred near Jhiriya Tola on National Highway 43.
The Scorpio was going from Kotma towards Beliya, while the bike was coming from the opposite direction. The four-wheeler rammed into the bike head-on, and then overturned and crashed into a house being constructed on the roadside. Luckily, there were no labourers or occupants in the house at the time.
According to police, three occupants of the Scorpio died on the spot, while two other persons succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a hospital.
The three people who died on the spot were identified as Shubham Ahirwar (17), Rahul Kevat (21), and Saurabh Pradhan. They were all residents of Beliya Chota locality.
The two who succumbed at the hospital were identified as Pushpendra and Ghasiya.
Five others were seriously injured and were undergoing treatment.
