Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday launched a blistering attack on the BJP, accusing it of betraying its allies after protests broke out at the residence of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief and Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, a key partner in the state government.
Yadav said the BJP has no real commitment to its allies, alleging that the party is now instigating protests against even its own partners. “Till yesterday, BJP members were running their own ‘council’ versus their own ‘vahini.’ Now, they are organizing protests at the homes of their so-called allies,” he said.
Posting on X, Yadav claimed that the BJP’s “split thinking” had created rifts even within its own ranks. “The money-hungry people who allied with the BJP have now realized that this ‘istemali’ (use-and-throw) party may fill their coffers but will never give them respect. The BJP’s conspiracy has always been: first use, then destroy,” he alleged.
He further charged that senior police officers were shielding the BJP’s internal conflicts while pushing junior policemen to the frontlines. “Senior officers sit in AC rooms saying ‘yes sir, yes sir’ to BJP leaders, while ordinary policemen are being forced to fold their hands and plead ‘bhai-bhai’ on the streets, despite the misbehavior of BJP’s allies,” Yadav said.
Rajbhar, who broke away from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founded by Kanshi Ram, formed his own party, SBSP, named after the mythical Bhar chieftain Suheldev, in 2002.
The SP chief further accused the BJP of conspiring to reduce its partners to political irrelevance. “Its so-called allies cannot even face their own people. They don’t know where to go. The BJP has ruined them politically—their hands and feet are cold, and their faces have turned pale,” he remarked.
