Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his first reaction to the derogatory comments made against Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav’s daughter, said, “Every daughter should be respected, and she should be respected too.”
The Chief Minister said, “I recently noticed that some people had made derogatory comments about the SP chief’s daughter. I immediately asked the police to register an FIR. Any derogatory remarks against a daughter will not be tolerated.”
He further said, “We were raised in a culture where it is said that a village girl is everyone’s daughter and everyone’s sister. We have never discriminated against anyone.”
Expressing his anguish, CM Yogi said, “Akhilesh ji, if you preach to others, then you should also ask your followers to exercise some restraint in their language. Think before making comments.”
He said, “What kind of language do SP members use towards sisters, daughters, senior leaders, the elderly, and even deceased persons? Akhilesh ji, please explain this to them. If they do not understand, hand them over to us—we will explain it to them.”
CM Yogi made these remarks after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 39 development projects worth ₹955 crore in Azamgarh on Saturday. Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief and Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar was also present on the dais along with the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister said, “Azamgarh is a district rich in handicrafts, skilled artisans, hardworking farmers, and energetic youth. Why, then, has this district struggled for recognition? Why has it faced an identity crisis? I repeatedly ask this question whenever I visit Azamgarh because this pain belongs not only to Azamgarh but to all of us. Those who divided society and repeatedly received your support were never your true well-wishers.”
He said, “Remember Azamgarh before 2017, when it was still seeking recognition. At that time, there was no university, no Purvanchal Expressway, no properly functioning airport, and no music college in Hariharpur. Even the famous Azamgarh saree lacked a platform for promotion.”
“There was no place for Mubarakpur’s black pottery either. Today, a black pottery artisan met me and happily remarked that since the double-engine government came to power in Uttar Pradesh, their business has grown significantly,” he claimed.
The Chief Minister said, “Earlier, the poor were not heard. Since our government came to power, work that had remained pending for decades has been completed. Earlier, Azamgarh’s name was associated with every terrorist incident. The future of the youth was compromised. There were no meaningful schemes for daughters, nor any concrete plans for their safety and progress. Our government has worked to give Maharaja Suheldev the respect he deserves.”
The CM said, “Earlier, events were organised in Bahraich in the name of invaders Salar Miyan and Ghazi Miyan. When our government came to power, we said that this would not continue. We stopped such practices with a clear message that symbols of slavery and foreign invaders should not be glorified.”
“Today, a grand statue of Maharaja Suheldev has been installed here. Wherever you go, you will find recognition for Maharaja Suheldev. The Hariharpur musical tradition is renowned worldwide. Bhojpuri artist Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ is also present here, spreading sweetness among people through his voice,” he added.
