Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on World Environment Day called upon people to become active partners in protecting nature and conserving natural resources. He said that environmental protection is not merely an administrative or social responsibility but a moral obligation owed to future generations.
Extending his greetings on the occasion, Sai underscored the deep and inseparable relationship between nature and human life. He said that the environment forms the foundation of existence and has always been closely linked to India’s culture, traditions and way of life.
The Chief Minister noted that nature is the greatest protector of human civilisation and stressed that safeguarding forests, water resources and biodiversity is essential for sustainable development. He urged citizens across the state to contribute to conservation efforts and participate in building a cleaner, greener and more prosperous future.
Appealing for collective action, Sai said environmental challenges can only be addressed through public participation and awareness. He called on people to renew their commitment towards protecting natural resources and preserving ecological balance. World Environment Day was marked by plantation drives at several locations in Raipur, with BJP leaders using the occasion to promote environmental awareness and encourage public participation in conservation efforts.
BJP state president Kiran Dev planted a sapling at his residence office in Devendra Nagar under the theme, “One Plant, One Resolve: A Meaningful Step Towards a Greener Future.” Speaking on the occasion, Dev said maintaining ecological balance and expanding green cover have become urgent priorities in the face of growing environmental challenges. He described tree plantation as more than a symbolic exercise, saying it is directly linked to the health, safety and well-being of future generations.
He appealed young citizens to actively participate in plantation drives and work collectively to create a cleaner, greener and pollution free environment. He also urged people to take responsibility for nurturing and protecting saplings after planting them.
A separate plantation programme was organised at the BJP’s state headquarters, Kushabhau Thakre Parisar, where Regional Organisation General Secretary Ajay Jamwal and State Organisation General Secretary Pawan Sai planted saplings and reaffirmed their commitment to environmental conservation.
Addressing the party workers, Jamwal said that sustainable development can only be achieved when economic progress and environmental protection move together. He stressed that while development is necessary, preserving natural resources for future generations is equally important.
Pawan Sai called upon citizens to go beyond symbolic observance of Environment Day and take long term responsibility for the trees they plant. He urged people to ensure proper care of saplings until they mature into healthy trees. Party office bearers, senior workers and members also participated in the programme and pledged to contribute towards maintaining a cleaner, greener and more sustainable environment.
