A SpiceJet flight with 150 passengers on board returned to Delhi soon after takeoff on Tuesday following an engine snag, officials said.
Flight SG121 took off from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport when the crew found a technical issue in one of its engines. prompting a precautionary return.
An emergency was declared at the airport to facilitate a priority landing and ensure that medical and firefighting services were on standby, official sources said.
Nearly 150 passengers were on the Boeing 737 when the incident occurred. According to the airline, the Delhi to Leh service turned back after reporting a technical issue. It landed back around 6.45 am.
According to the spokesperson, the aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and passengers exited normally. The plane is now set to undergo additional technical inspections.
