ECI to start pre-SIR mapping drive in Uttarakhand from April 1

The Election Commission of India (ECI) will start its Intensive Pre-SIR mapping drive in Uttarakhand on April 1 even as 85 per cent of mapping was over in the last campaign. Polling booths with lower mapping rates will be a special focus in the mapping drive.

Sharing this information with the media on Friday, Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) Vijay Kumar Jogdande said here on Friday that an intensive drive for revising voters’ list with focus on booths that recorded low mapping percentages. Citizens can now utilise the facility of “Book a Call” to connect with their Booth Level Officers (BLO) on a click.

He informed that so far nearly 19,000 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) have been appointed by political parties to be part of the drive. “Political parties have appointed 19,000 BLAs so far. 85 per cent of the mapping of voters was over in the Pre-SIR phase. Major focus in the intensive Pre-SIR mapping will be laid on the remaining areas and booths with lower mapping,” said Jogdande.

“For voters’ convenience, the ECI has introduced a new feature allowing the electorate to schedule a conversation with their BLOs. Voters can visit https://voters.eci.gov.in or download the ECI-NET mobile app to avail the facility. He stated once a call is booked, the BLO will mandatorily contact the voter concerned within two days to resolve their query.

ACEO claimed that ECI guidelines, lists for Absent, Shifted and Deceased (ASD) voters are being prepared at every booth to ensure the accuracy and clarity of the electorate.

Jogdande urged political parties in the state to have complete nominations of BLAs.
