The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday introduced ECINET, an all-encompassing digital platform designed to consolidate over 40 existing election-related apps and portals into a single, secure, and user-friendly interface. The launch event was held at the India International Conference on Democracy and Election Management (IICDEM) 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Conceived by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar along with Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, ECINET aims to elevate transparency, efficiency, and public confidence in managing elections across the world’s largest democracy.

Addressing attendees, CEC Kumar emphasised ECINET’s compliance with legal standards and its accessibility, stating, “ECINET has been developed in strict accordance with the law and is available in 22 scheduled languages and English. We invite election management bodies worldwide to collaborate with us in creating similar platforms suited to their legal frameworks and languages.”

Election Commissioner Sandhu highlighted the platform’s potential to strengthen trust in electoral processes: “This platform is a great tool to enhance trust in EMBs as it ensures greater transparency, facilitates real-time monitoring of election functions, and enables quick decision-making and information dissemination.”

Echoing the global significance of the initiative, Election Commissioner Joshi remarked, “IICDEM offers election management bodies a valuable opportunity to learn from global best practices in technology adoption and digital innovation.”

Seema Khanna, Director General of Information Technology, underscored cybersecurity as a cornerstone of ECINET’s architecture: “Technology is no longer just a support function but a strategic enabler. ECINET enhances transparency, efficiency, credibility, and public trust in elections.”

ECINET serves a wide range of stakeholders, including voters, candidates, political parties, and election officials. It offers integrated services such as voter registration, electoral roll searches, application tracking, candidate information, election official contacts, e-EPIC downloads, polling trends, and grievance redressal, all accessible through a secure digital environment.

The platform’s beta version was successfully piloted during the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), demonstrating its capacity to deliver improved citizen-centric election services. Since then, ECINET has processed over 10 crore registration forms, averaging 2.7 lakh daily, registered more than 11 lakh Booth Level Officers, and digitised upwards of 150 crore documents during the SIR, while providing robust tools for ground-level election monitoring.
