The Election Commission of India in Uttar Pradesh has accelerated the digitization of enumeration forms under Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and on Friday, had completed 56% digitization.
The EC reviewed the progress of the SIR program with the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, all Divisional Commissioners, and all District Electoral Officers on Friday.
The Commission commended the progress made in digitization work in the state over the past two days and directed further acceleration to ensure timely completion.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa stated that the personnel engaged in digitizing and collecting the counting forms during the SIR are working diligently and efficiently.
Till date, the digitization of enumeration forms for 8.66 crore (approximately 56 percent) voters has been completed in the state. The state had 15.44 crore voters.
The Chief Electoral Officer directed the District Election Officers that the deadline for collecting and counting forms is approaching, and that the remaining voters should be informed to collect them as soon as possible.
The Chief Electoral Officer urged them to expedite the collection of enumeration forms in urban areas. “At booths with relatively slow progress, BLOs should be encouraged to enlist the assistance of additional skilled personnel. BLOs should go door-to-door to collect and count forms from voters. They should also identify deceased, shifted, untraced, and duplicate voters as soon as possible,” the CEO said.
