The Election Commission on Friday met a delegation from the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), led by its president Prem Kumar Reang, a poll panel press note said.

The meeting took place at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi, where the delegation shared their suggestions and concerns with the ECI officials. The meeting was attended by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

The interaction aimed to foster a collaborative environment, allowing the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura to share their perspectives and suggestions on electoral processes and related matters. This engagement reflects the ECI’s commitment to inclusivity and transparency in its operations.

The meeting is part of the ECI’s ongoing initiative to interact with various political parties to ensure fair and transparent elections. The ECI regularly engages with parties to gather feedback and suggestions on electoral issues.

Recent meetings include: On July 17, the EC held a meeting with a delegation from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam led by its Rajya Sabha member N R Elango. The ECI also met with a delegation from the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation, led by authorized representative Sanjay Sharma on July 22.

The EC has held similar interactions with other major political parties, including the Bahujan Samaj Party (May 6), the Bharatiya Janata Party (May 8), and the Telugu Desam Party (July 15).

The ECI’s meetings with political parties demonstrate its commitment to inclusive electoral governance and transparency. By engaging with parties and gathering feedback, the ECI aims to ensure that elections are conducted fairly and that voters’ concerns are addressed.

These interactions allow parties to share their views, concerns, and suggestions directly with the Commission, promoting a more participatory approach in election management and policy formulation.
