The Election Commission of India on Thursday interacted with a delegation from Janata Dal (Secular), led by its authorized representative, K R Shivakumar, at Nirvachan Sadan in Delhi.
The meeting, attended by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, aimed to receive suggestions and address concerns related to the electoral process.
The meeting is part of the ECI’s ongoing efforts to engage with political parties and strengthen the electoral process. In the past, the Commission has carried out similar meetings with various parties, including a notable initiative where it conducted over 4,700 meetings nationwide with more than 28,000 representatives of political parties.
These meetings were held at the levels of Chief Electoral Officers, District Election Officers, and Electoral Registration Officers, demonstrating the ECI’s commitment to addressing electoral issues and promoting voter participation.
The objective of these interactions is to provide a platform for political parties to raise concerns, suggest improvements, and collaborate with the ECI to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process. By engaging with parties like Janata Dal (Secular), the ECI aims to foster a more inclusive and robust democratic process.
