Earthquake of magnitude 3.0 strikes Nagaur in Rajasthan

An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred at 10.51 am in Rajasthan’s Nagaur on Friday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km at a location close to the city that lies on the edge of the Thar Desert.

Nagaur is approximately 235 km to the west of Jaipur.

According to the IMD, the quake had an epicentre at Latitude 27.3 North and Longitude 74.9 East.

Earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 cause little to no damage.

Earlier today, an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 struck the hilly region of Himachal Pradesh.

IMD said that the earthquake struck Mandi at 4.32 am before dawn. The epicentre of the quake was 10 km deep at Latitude 31.3 North and Longitude 77.0 East.

On 24 April, a strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck Arunachal Pradesh.

The epicentre of the earthquake was about 40 kilometres (25 miles) southeast of Along and 180 kilometres southwest of the state capital Itanagar. It struck at 1:45 am.

Arunachal Pradesh is the least densely populated state, but is still home to more than 1.2 million people, according to the state government’s website.

And on 1 April, nine medium intensity earthquakes, with a magnitude ranging from 4.7 to 5.2, hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, all in a span of two hours.
