In view of the incidents of molestation on e-rickshaws in the state, Uttar Pradesh State Women Commission Chairperson Dr. Babita Singh Chauhan has instructed that the names and mobile numbers of drivers should be mentioned in every e-rickshaw.
On Thursday, during a visit to Barabanki, the Women Commission Chairperson instructed Additional SP Vikas Chandra Tripathi, who was present in the meeting with the officers, to ensure that the order is followed at all costs.
She said that the Chief Minister is also serious about this matter.
“Now, every e-rickshaw will have to mention the mobile number and name of the driver in their vehicle in the state,” she clarified, saying that there are several incidents reported about molestation of women in the state when they travel on these e-rickshaws.
She also assured to review the functioning of women helpline 1090 and 181. She said strengthening the women’s desk in all police stations will be our priority so that women can register their complaints without fear.
Dr. Chauhan said that the Commission is working with full commitment and no woman’s problem will be left unheard.
