Duo accused of loot in Tamil Nadu nabbed in MP with gold worth Rs 10 crore

The Madhya Pradesh Police nabbed two accused, who had been absconding after committing a major robbery in the Trichy district of Tamil Nadu on 13 September, in Barwani on Sunday and recovered stolen gold items worth Rs 10 crore and Rs 3.5 lakh in cash from their possession.

According to SDOP Ajay Waghmare, the accused have been identified as Mangilal Kanaram (22) and Vikram Ramniwas Jat (18), both from Jodhpur in Rajasthan. They were arrested from near the Balsamud check post in the Sendhwa area of the Barwani district of the state while they were trying to board a bus to flee further.

According to the police, the duo, along with five others, had robbed the gold ornaments and cash from a Chennai resident, Gunavant, near the Samaypura toll plaza in the Trichy district of Tamil Nadu.

A case is registered there under Section 309(4).

Two days after the incident, the police arrested five accused. The duo went absconding.

Following the news of the arrest of the accused today, a special team from Tamil Nadu’s Trichy district is also reaching Sendhwa.

The SDOP said after presenting them in court, the accused will be handed over to the Tamil Nadu Police on a transit remand for further interrogations and investigations.

Besides the gold ornaments, the police also seized a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the two men.
