DRDO conclave in Lucknow strengthens MSME role in defence R&D

In a bid to further develop the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor and strengthen collaboration with MSMEs and start-ups in defence R&D and production, the DRDO’s Defence Technology and Test Centre (DTTC) organised a conclave at its Amausi Campus in Lucknow.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defence, over 100 participants from various MSMEs, start-ups, and Laghu Udhyog Bharti deliberated on aspects of skill development, R&D funding, technical consultancy, and technology development and transfer by DRDO.

In his inaugural address, DRDO Chairman Dr Samir V Kamat described the DTTC as the brainchild of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which is now yielding results for the benefit of industries.

He briefed MSMEs on various technologies and industry-centric policies and stressed that this is the right time for MSMEs to engage in defence R&D.

He assured participants that DRDO would provide all possible support to help MSMEs contribute to making India Aatmanirbhar and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also complimented DRDO and MSMEs for organizing the conclave and appreciated the crucial role of MSMEs in realizing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the statement added.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Dr RV Hara Prasad, DG (Naval Systems and Materials); Dr LC Mangal, DG (Technology Management); and Dr Mayank Dwivedi, DG (Human Resources).
