Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra has demanded the resignation of Education Minister Madan Dilawar for allegedly failing to take due cognisance of the NEET paper leaks over three consecutive years —2024, 2025 and 2026— and for what he termed the minister’s other failures.
The demand comes close on the heels of a move by the Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh (United), which has invited activist Sonam Wangchuk and Cockroach Janta Party chief Abhijit Dipke to lead an agitation in Jaipur demanding Dilawar’s removal.
Speaking briefly to mediapersons here on Monday, Dotasra said that NEET papers had been leaked in each of the last three years. Although the matter was brought to the notice of the authorities, the government failed to take due cognisance of the complaints in Rajasthan, particularly this year.
“During our previous regime (2018–2023), whenever paper leaks occurred, we took immediate and stringent action, spared nobody, and enacted the country’s first and most stringent law to curb and prevent paper leaks. The law provides for life imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs 10 crore,” said Dotasra, who was then the Education Minister.
Had the BJP-led Central government adopted a similar law, neither would the situation have become so grim nor would Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have been forced to resign, he remarked.
Moreover, Dotasra alleged that Education Minister Madan Dilawar had destroyed the state’s public education system through his arbitrary decisions and actions.
“We had opened Mahatma Gandhi English Medium Government Schools, where nearly seven lakh students were studying. Those schools have been closed by the present government. Allegations of corruption and irregularities in teachers’ transfers have also attracted widespread attention,” Dotasra said.
He further claimed that the teaching community was so unhappy and disturbed by Dilawar’s actions that it had also demanded his removal.
“The damage caused by Minister Dilawar is so extensive that it will take at least 15 to 20 years to undo the loss,” Dotasra added.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Shikshak Sangh (United) president Ranjeet Meena and general secretary Chandrabhan Chaudhary have written to Sonam Wangchuk and Abhijit Dipke, seeking their support in a campaign against Minister Dilawar.
In their letters, they accused the minister of treating teachers in a cruel, indecent and dictatorial manner and reiterated several of the allegations levelled by the Rajasthan Congress president against Dilawar.
