DMK manifesto: Rs 2K monthly dole for women, Rs 8K for fridge, tv, grinder, oven, free pumpset to farmers market

Promising to hike the monthly cash dole of Rs 1000 to 1.31 crore women household heads, the ruling DMK has assured Rs 8000 to them for buying or replacing fridge, washing machine, tv, grinder or oven besides providing free modern pumpset without meter to 20 lakh farmers among other things.

“This is only the highlights. In Tamil Nadu, the DMK manifesto is generally considered as the hero. Now, this one has made an entry as the superstar. It is the people’s ‘sasan’ (charter). The Dravidian Model Government 2.O securing a landslide with not less than 200 seats is certain…certain,” Chief Minister and DMK president MK Stalin said, releasing the manifesto before the media at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam in Chennai on Sunday evening. “These promises will be made into legislations, projects and schemes,” he asserted.

As in the 2021 poll promises, this time, the ruling DMK, determined in its bid to break the second consecutive term jinx, is banking on freebies. The breakfast scheme for primary schools will be extended up to middle schools. Under the flagship scheme of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam, the Rs 1000 per month to women will be hiked to Rs 2000, Old Age Pension to 1500 a month from Rs 1200 and assistance for fishers during fishing ban to 12000 from Rs 8000.

The party pledged to build 10 lakh new houses for the homeless, enhance the insurance cover under the Chief Ministers’ Insurance scheme to Rs 10 lakh for those whose income is below Rs 5 lakh. While Women SHG will be given Rs 5 lakh loan without collateral, it is Rs 30 lakh for entrepreneurship loan for minorities and backward classes. To make the youth employable, 1.5 lakh youth will be given six-month internship with monthly assistance while 35 lakh graduate students will be provided free laptops in five years. The scholarships for SC/ST/BC/MBC students will be enhanced.

Pledging to fill up 1.5 lakh vacancies in government jobs, the DMK promised to constitute a panel to study the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission recommendations and implement the Assured Pension Scheme of the government.

On the industrial front, the party assured to increase Tamil Nadu’s export to 120 billion dollars, secure 18 lakh crore foreign investment to generate 50 lakh jobs and set up Neo-Tidel parks in each district to create 2 lakh jobs by 2030.

Conscious of retrieving the rights of the States, the DMK asserted to carry across the country the recommendations of the Justice Kurien Thomas Commission on Centre State relations, constituted by the DMK government. Further, to promote Tamil, Classical Tamil Conference will be held every year.
