Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of Tripura for electing the BJP to power and assured that the newly formed government in the state will receive all assistance from the Centre.

Addressing a gathering at the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Biplab Deb and other ministers, PM Modi likened his party’s arrival in power in the state to the Hindu festival of Diwali.

“Diwali has returned to Tripura,” he said amid chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.

“In the history of India, there are some elections that will always be discussed. The 2018 Tripura elections will be one such example. People will continue to discuss these polls,” the PM said.

“New Delhi will put in same level of effort as that of the new government of Tripura for the state’s welfare,” the PM assured the people.

“History has been scripted by the brothers and sisters of Tripura,” the PM said while congratulating the electorate.

He reiterated his commitment that the state government will work for the people of Tripura irrespective of whether they voted for the party or not.

“I assure you that this government is as much for those who did not vote for us as it is for those who voted,” the PM asserted.

He also congratulated the elected MLAs from the CPI(M) and urged everyone to work together for the development of the state.

“I request the Opposition leaders to share their years of experience in governance with the newly-elected government, which is young but full of energy and enthusiasm,” the PM said.

Underlining the Centre’s commitment towards the growth of northeast and his government’s motto of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’, the PM reaffirmed that his priority has always been development.

As the crowd cheered, the PM urged the people to solve every single problem together with the government to take Tripura to new heights.

Shobosheshey apnara paltei dilen (Eventually, you changed the government),” Modi concluded in Bengali referring to the slogan ‘Chalo Paltai’ (Come Let’s Change).
