“The sky will remain cloudy with chances of rainfall and drizzle throughout the day within the National Capital Region,” IANS quoted an India Meteorological Department official (IMD) as saying.

The maximum temperature settled at 34 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season’s average, on Sunday while the minimum temperature was 23 degrees, three notches above the season’s average.

The weather of Delhi and NCR transformed Sunday evening as the region witnessed thunderstorm and thundershowers along with light rains.

Dry and hot weather with mostly sunny sky conditions is expected to prevail over Delhi-NCR for the next 36 hours, according to a report on skymetweather.com.

The Skymet Weather also claims India, barring two pockets of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, will witness a rainy week, and the approaching spell is likely to be a prolonged and extensive one lasting till April 11.

The approaching rains are also likely to drop the mercury across the country, though afternoons would continue to be warm. A Skymet Weather report says major contribution of rains would come from northeast India, which may help reduce the countrywide cumulative rain deficiency.

Several parts of Punjab, Haryana, Northwest Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR and West Uttar Pradesh may see pre-monsoon activities such as thundershowers, thunderstorms, dust storms and even hail storm.
