Delhi, Shimla record season’s hottest day on Sunday; expect no early relief

The northern region turned into a virtual cauldron on Sunday, as temperature rose to newer levels, making it at many places the hottest day of the season.

Mercury in Delhi touched 46 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest day of the season.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said there is no relief likely from the heat wave on Monday and similar weather conditions will continue till Tuesday.

Tourist hotspot Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, situated at an altitude of 2,130 metres, recorded 30.1 degrees Celsius, highest this season. Una town was the hottest in the state with a high of 44.8 degrees Celsius. As per the IMD, Shimla’s maximum temperature was five notches above the average.

As per reports, at 46.1 degrees Celsius, Gaya in Bihar was hottest, while Odisha capital recorded 43.6 degrees Celsius.
