As the investigation continued into the November 10 blast near the Red Fort in Delhi, a joint team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Delhi Police on Thursday recovered a body part near the New Lajpat Rai Market, located close to the explosion site. To supplement the ongoing probe, the body part was taken for forensic examination. Meanwhile, the death toll in the blast climbed to 13, with more people succumbing to their injuries.

Further, security agencies have recovered the diaries of accused Dr Umar Un Nabi and Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie, which mention the dates November 8 to 12, signalling that planning was underway for an attack during that period, sources have said.

ANI sources revealed that the diary comprised the names of about 25 individuals, most of them hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and Faridabad in Haryana.

The entries of the diaries revealed that the blast was to be carried out as part of a well-planned conspiracy. These diaries were recovered on Tuesday and Wednesday from Dr Umar’s room number four and Dr Muzammil’s room number 13 at Al-Falah University in Haryana.

The agencies are also looking into whether different vehicles were being prepared for the blasts. According to sources, after the i20 and EcoSport, it was learned that the suspects were planning to prepare two more vehicles for the blast to expand the target.

Preliminary probe signals that the accused groups had the intention to move in pairs, each carrying multiple improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for simultaneous attacks.

Among those under scrutiny are individuals linked to past terror cases, including Red Fort blast accused Dr Muzammil, Dr Adeel Rather, Dr Umar, and Dr Shaheen Saeed.

The Delhi Police on Thursday confirmed that the man who carried out the explosion near the Red Fort was Dr Umar , after forensic experts matched DNA recovered from the blast site with samples taken from his mother.

According to officials, one of Umar’s legs was found stuck between the steering wheel and the accelerator of the Hyundai i20 he was driving when it exploded on Monday evening.
