The Delhi High Court on Friday set aside the EC recommendation disqualifying 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in an office-of-profit case. An elated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed it triumph of truth.

In what is being seen as temporary relief for the 20 legislators, the court restored their membership but referred the case back to the Election Commission (EC) directing it to hold fresh hearing as the MLAs have alleged that they did not get a proper hearing.

The MLAs were disqualified for holding office-of-profit when they were appointed Parliamentary Secretaries.

AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal said “truth has triumphed” and congratulated the people of Delhi.

“Truth has triumphed. Representatives elected by the people of Delhi were wrongly disqualified. Delhi High Court has delivered justice. I congratulate the people of Delhi. The is the victory of people Delhi,” Kejriwal tweeted.
