Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday held a detailed review of the progress of her government’s budget announcements on development works and public welfare schemes, directing officials concerned to ensure their implementation within the stipulated timelines.
She warned that failure to properly utilise Budget allocations for various schemes could warrant reduction in funds to the departments in the next budgetary allocation.
The meeting, chaired by the CM, was conducted through video conferencing in keeping with the state government’s work from home policy announced earlier as part of the measures undertaken to save energy and fuel in the wake of West Asia crisis.
Gupta warned against any negligence in the implementation of the public welfare works, adding that there is no scope for tolerating any carelessness in their execution. She gave clear instructions to all departments to speed up the implementation of schemes on the ground without unnecessary delays.
She asserted that the government’s priority is not limited to making announcements, but to ensure that every scheme reaches its final outcome.
Notably, monsoon preparedness was also discussed in detail with the CM directing the departments concerned to ensure that the cleaning and desilting of all small and large drains across in the city is completed before rains. She emphasized that prevention of water logging remains among the government’s top priorities and no laxity in this regard would be accepted.
On environmental protection and pollution control, Gupta said large-scale plantation or grass-cover drives should be undertaken at places facing dust pollution, and those areas which are lying vacant.
She also reviewed infrastructure related to education and gave instructions to ensure timely whitewashing of government schools, repair of toilets and proper arrangements for clean drinking water for children.
According to Gupta, providing students with a better and dignified environment is the responsibility of the government and considering the present situation, she appealed to officers and employees to seriously follow the Metro Monday and Work From Home arrangements, adding that it would help save fuel, reduce traffic pressure and support pollution control.
She directed the departments to accelerate schemes related to solar power and water conservation.
Gupta also directed officials to upload information related to pending and important projects on the PM Pragati Portal in a timely manner for effective monitoring of the development works.
