Delhi CM inspects Yamuna ghats, orders faster desilting ahead of monsoon

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday visited Vasudev Ghat and Yamuna Bazaar Ghat with the Lt. Governor Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu for the inspection of ongoing works to clean Yamuna river.

During the visit, CM Gupta inspected the ghats, their infrastructure and the ongoing rejuvenation works, directing officials to ensure the works are completed within the stipulated time frame.

CM Gupta urged officials to focus on three main agendas – cleanliness of ghats, proper desilting and removal of encroachments that leads to water accumulation.

“I inspected the cleanliness of the ghats, the infrastructure, and the ongoing rejuvenation works, and directed the officials that all works be completed within the stipulated time frame and with high quality. The silt removal work should be expedited in mission mode, and all preparations should be completed on time before the monsoon,” she said on X.

The Delhi CM further stated that Yamuna is the stream of our faith and heritage and making its banks clean, safe and organised is her government’s priority.

“The resolve we have taken for a clean Yamuna is being implemented on the ground with full commitment,” she added.
